We are helping to recruit for an established branch of a larger national accountancy practice who is seeking a qualified Accountant, with practice experience, on a full-time or part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Accountant to join an exceptional team and grow within a dynamic, welcoming, and customer-oriented firm.

The ideal candidate for this position will hold a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA, or will have equivalent experience, and possess comprehensive expertise in all areas of general practice, including accounts preparation, taxation, and VAT.

About the job

Responsibilities:
Conducting account preparations and file reviews

Finalising accounts and CT returns

Organising and reviewing Self-Assessment tax returns and submitting them to HMRC

Facilitating tax review meetings with clients

Building strong relationships with clients and acquiring new business

Reviewing and/or submitting VAT returns

Providing continual client support and handling their inquiries

Assisting and advising colleagues on accounting matters

Supervising staff and monitoring work processes

Serving as a liaison between clients and HMRC, handling their inquiries and concerns

Identifying and introducing value-added services to clients

Creating comprehensive management accounts for clients.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in UK general practice

  • Competent in payroll, auto-enrolment, and CIS

  • Proficient in accounts preparation for a range of entities such as Limited Companies, Sole Traders, and Partnerships

  • Knowledgeable in Corporation, Personal, and Partnership tax compliance

  • Experience in supervising staff and managing office operations

  • Strong understanding of Money Laundering regulations and the latest legislative changes

  • Familiarity with cloud accounting software

  • Ability to identify non-profitable clients or those with questionable practices

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with a diverse clientele
